What is Green Steel?
- Green Steel is the name given to steel that has been produced using CO2 reduced methods.
Is Green Steel any different to what I’m used to?
- The quality of steel is unchanged, what’s changed is the energy source used to power the furnaces in production. Moving from Gas to Hydro-Electric powered furnaces reduces the CO2 output by 77%.
Why Green Steel?
- Green Steel is a huge step forward in steel production, by reducing the CO2 produced in making the raw materials, we can start to make big reductions in the total carbon footprint of our industry.
Do I need to ask for Green Steel?
- We will transition all our stock to Green Steel by January 2026, once Green Steel becomes available we will just move production to it.
Will choosing Green Steel be more expensive?
- Green Steel supplied by EPS is the same price as regular steel, there are no price increases for our customers related to moving to Green Steel production.
When will the first Green Steel blades be delivered?
- EPS delivered the first Green Steel blades to customers in mid-July 2024, our most popular sizes will be available in Green Steel by the end of March 2025, and all new bandsaws will be available in Green Steel by January 2026.
