Wide Bandsaws
EPS Services & Tooling Ltd is one of the leading bandsaw blade manufacturers in the UK, specialising in the production and servicing of wide bandsaw blades for the timber industry. With over 35 years of experience, we deliver industrial cutting solutions UK mills can rely on—precision, durability, and consistency in every cut. Because when it comes to cutting timber, close enough just doesn’t cut it.
High-Quality Materials
Our wide bandsaw blades are crafted from premium BOHLERSTRIP steel, sourced directly from voestalpine Precision Strip in Austria. Known for its high fatigue strength, excellent elasticity, and superior benchability, this steel provides the foundation for blades that work hard and last longer—no drama, just dependable performance.
Manufacturing Excellence
We manufacture blades ranging from 60mm to 311mm in width, tailored to meet your specific tension and cutting requirements. Blades can be supplied either ready to run or toothed and joined, with teeth set straight to suit your application. For operations requiring enhanced durability, we offer swaged and shaped teeth or Stellite tipping—because a sharper blade means a smoother day at the mill. All manufacturing is performed in-house to maintain the highest standards of quality and control (we like to keep a close eye on things).
Advanced Production Processes
Our facilities are equipped with advanced press lines capable of punching precise tooth shapes to match customer specifications. We use butt welding for strong, inclusion-free joins and carefully controlled heat zones, ensuring blade integrity. Our triple plasma-arc systems provide high-quality Stellite tipping, while hydraulic automated swaging is used for non-tipped blades. CNC-controlled levelling and tensioning machinery (RC100/110) allows for tailored blade performance, and final grinding is completed on Vollmer CNC wet grinding machines—capable of handling a wide range of tooth shapes with precision and consistency. It’s precision engineering, taken seriously (but not too seriously).
Nationwide Coverage
Operating from strategically located service centres in Somerset, Essex, and Fife, EPS provides full UK coverage. Following our integration with Gerrymet Ltd—a respected supplier with over 40 years of experience in bandsaws and woodworking tooling—we’ve expanded our reach and capacity. Together, we now service nearly 3,000 wide bandsaws each month, offering a personal collection and delivery service covering most of mainland UK. It’s a nationwide solution with a local touch.

THE WIDE BAND SAW MANUFACTURING PROCESS AT EPS
Our modern press lines produce toothed steel to exacting tolerances while we can punch in a variety of different tooth shapes to match customer requirements. We Butt Weld all our band saws to ensure inclusion free joining and tempering within a very small heat zone.
Our triple plasma-arc manufacturing lines provide high quality Stellite tipping, whilst hydraulic automated swaging is used for non-tipped blades. Our fully automatic CNC hydraulic tensioning machinery is programmable to meet every blade application, whilst final tooth and side grinding is undertaken on one of our many Vollmer CNC wet grinding machines, which are capable of grinding up to 99 different tooth shapes, including a whole range of Vari-pitch formats.
Stellite Tipping
For extra tip hardness and improved length of service, for cutting frozen timber or for extra smooth finish on softwoods our sophisticated Plasma-arc Stellite tipping machinery will fuse a deposit of hard metal to Rockwell 44C, and correctly anneal it by induction loop heating. The teeth are then precision ground on water cooled CNC equipment to give accurate and razor sharp teeth.
Variable Pitch Teeth
We are also able to offer improved speed of cut and a decrease in blade resonance with the use of a varying pitch formatted teeth, with our unique CNC Production Centre. We can now create different pitch formats to meet your unique requirements.
Cutting Frozen Timber
To help cut frozen (or partly frozen) timber we can provide a frost notch to each saw tooth in a consistent format utilising our modern CNC machinery. A frost notch can help the bandsaw blade process the frozen sawdust more effectively this allowing the timber mill to maintain cutting speeds.

Bohler’s classic wood band saw steel is a proven reliable wood bandsaw steel suitable for all applications and environments;
Characteristics;
- High wear resistance,
- Excellent for swaging but can be stellite tipped to increase wear resistance
- Balanced tensile strength with a uniform, material structure
Our bandsaws will be delivered by a major national carrier with plastic stripping applied to the bandsaw, for added protection.
