LSAB & EPS complete successful bandsaw trails with Gordon Timber in Scotland
Following the announcement of their strategic partnership in March this year, EPS and LSAB have now successfully competed a 6 week trial with Gordon Timber, Nairn. The Bandsaws were manufactured in Sweden by LSAB, and then serviced and re-tipped locally on a bi-weekly basis by EPS in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. The servicing process and mill performance is then reported on LSAB’s Loggmaster software so that all parties understand how each bandsaw has performed and can further identify areas for improvement.
Scott Gordon, Joint Managing Director at Gordon Timber added “We have been working with EPS as our sole supplier of bandsaws since 2011 and have built a successful relationship, by introducing LSAB bandsaws to the operation, serviced by EPS, we are now achieving running times of over 30 hours (3 Days) on our main production line” Craig Simpson, Production Manager at Gordon Timber added “ The work that has been done by LSAB / EPS has reduced our saw usage by 40%”
Fredrik Invarsson, LSAB’s Export Manager added “ This first trail has exceeded our expectations with all the parties keen to understand the benefits of working together within our structured process. We have been able to demonstrate that our practices can be successfully applied to UK grown timber”
Steve Goodlad, Operations Director at EPS added “Working on this servicing concept has produced results that benefits the customer enabling longer running times. This has dramatically improved unscheduled downtime while production yields have also improved. Achieving these results has been a team effort between EPS and LSAB and I’m proud to be a part of this initiative”.
