In an exciting step toward achieving our carbon reduction goals, EPS has announced the introduction of Green Steel in its bandsaws, furthering its pledge to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. This major milestone, achieved with the support of steel supplier Voestalpine, will take effect in July 2024, when customers will begin noticing a new ‘CO2-‘ logo on EPS bandsaws. The logo signifies that the steel, produced by renowned brand Uddeholm, now comes from furnaces powered by renewable hydro-electric energy.

This shift is part of EPS’ broader commitment to sustainability, which began with the installation of solar panels at its Scotland facility in 2017 and switching to renewable electricity across the group. The transition to Green Steel marks a 77% reduction in carbon emissions from the steel manufacturing process. Compared to conventional methods, which generate 2600 kg of CO2 per ton of steel, the new process emits just 600 kg. By March 2025, 50% of our stock will be Green Steel and 100% by the end of the 2025.

EPS is committed to reaching Net Zero by 2050, and this development puts the company well on track to meet its ambitious sustainability targets. The best part? Customers will still enjoy the same high-quality Bohler and Uddeholm steel without any price increases or compromises on performance.
