Our Commitment to Net Zero Manufacturing

At EPS Services & Tooling Ltd, we’re proud to be a signatory member of the Network Net Zero Community, taking proactive steps to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to the global effort against climate change. Sustainability is no longer optional — it’s essential. That’s why we’re embedding net zero thinking into every part of our business.

Our Net Zero Manufacturing Pledge

We have officially pledged to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050, with a key milestone of cutting our greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030. This pledge isn’t just a statement — it’s a roadmap. We’ve developed a clear strategy with both short- and long-term goals to make steady, measurable progress toward that end target.

Our journey began in earnest on 8th March 2022, when we made our commitment through the Network Net Zero Community’s Race to Zero campaign. This global initiative aligns with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and encourages companies to take climate action seriously. Our pledge is visible and accountable — we want our customers, partners, and employees to know exactly where we stand.

Tracking and Transparency

Transparency is a vital part of this journey. That’s why we’ve begun regularly reporting our greenhouse gas emissions in line with internationally recognised standards. By participating in the UNFCCC’s annual reporting processes, we hold ourselves accountable and stay aligned with global best practices in sustainability reporting.

In 2023, we undertook a comprehensive carbon footprint review through the SWMAS Make It Net Zero programme. This gave us an invaluable benchmark for our current emissions and highlighted the areas where we can make the biggest difference. With data-driven insights in hand, we’re prioritising high-impact changes and identifying opportunities for smarter resource use across our operations.

EPS Services and Tooling Ltd made its pledge to the Race to Zero via the Network Net Zero Community on 8th March 2022. The record of the pledge can be found online.

Supply Chain Responsibility

Like many manufacturing businesses, a significant portion of our carbon emissions comes from our supply chain. In fact, over 70% of our total carbon footprint comes from the steel used in the bandsaws we supply. We believe that reducing emissions doesn’t stop at our factory door — it must extend across our supplier relationships too.

That’s why we’re working closely with our steel supplier, Voestalpine, a leading producer of high-performance steels, including the Uddeholm and Böhler-branded strip coil we use in our finished bandsaws. Voestalpine has set its own Net Zero targets and is actively investing in technologies to decarbonise steel production. One of their most exciting initiatives is the increased use of green hydrogen — a clean energy source that could transform the future of steelmaking. Their long-term ambition is to produce carbon-neutral steel by 2050.

This upstream commitment helps strengthen our own Net Zero ambitions. We’re confident that by collaborating with responsible, forward-thinking partners, we can create a more sustainable manufacturing ecosystem.
